Additional Information

Colson Whitehead is a New York Times bestselling writer, a MacArthur Fellow and the author of the highly acclaimed novel The Underground Railroad, chronicling a young slave’s desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South, which won the National Book Award in 2016 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2017.

The Underground Railroad is at once a kinetic adventure tale of one woman’s ferocious will to escape the horrors of bondage and a shattering, powerful meditation on the history we all share. Whitehead is also the author of the novels Zone One, Sag Harbor, The Intuitionist, John Henry Days and Apex Hides the Hurt, as well as The Colossus of New York, a collection of essays and The Noble Hustle, a memoir.
