Additional Information

The event is a play, depicts the identity-searching journey of two Malaysian and Singaporean freshmen, Samantha and Samuel, in their daily UCLA lives. Samantha, falling in love with an American, was self-convinced that she has to forgo her Malaysian culture and act like an American to be accepted; while Samuel, as a queer who now felt that he is free of Singapore’s rigid societal norm, is eager to find love as a way to define his liberation, but lacks the courage to clearly identify his feelings. As the play unveils, Samuel slowly recognizes that he has to speak-up and be open of his feeling and identity.

This play involves 14 actors and 24 dancers, all of them being either Malaysians or Singaporeans. We intend to make the 4th of May as the day we have our rehearsal, and on the 7th of May as the actual performance day.
