Lecture by Dr. Alan Rubin, Research Geochemist, Co-Curator of the UCLA Meteorite Collection.

The origin of the solar system Alan will address questions such as: Why is the Sun a single star? Why do the planets orbit in roughly the same plane. Why is the composition of the Sun, the Earth and the chondritic meteorites so similar? How has the solar system been altered by giant impacts, gravitational perturbations, and tidal interactions?
