Additional Information
This year our theme is “What’s Language Got To Do With It?” We all know that our students’ language, so closely tied to identity, has plenty to do with it—with confidence, with success in school, with willingness to take risks, to speak up and write more than a few sentences. Our keynote speakers, Marjorie Faulstich Orellana, UCLA, and H. Samy Alim, Stanford University, will set the stage by introducing the notion of “repertoires of linguistic practice” and by giving us more insight into the abilities our students already have as they code switch and “style shift.” Concurrent workshops will focus on teaching and learning in all content areas.
Audience: Teachers and administrators K-University.
