Additional Information
Afghan-American Salar Nader is one of the most sought-after young percussionists of his generation. A founding member of today’s foremost Afghan music ensemble, Sounds and Rhythms of Afghanistan (SARA), he plays dhol and dholak Afghan percussion, in addition to tabla. For this solo performance on closing day of Order and Disorder: Alighiero Boetti by Afghan Women, Nader performs new compositions inspired by the works in display. Outdoors, in the Fowler’s UCLA Arts Council Amphlitheater. A reception follows, featuring Afghan sweets.
