Additional Information
The Shakespeare Company presents The Merchant of Venice - the extraordinary tale of a merchant named Antonio, who in aiding his friend Bassanio's quest to marry the beautiful Portia, becomes bound to a Jewish moneylender named Shylock.
One of Shakespeare's most famous comedies, the play asks us to consider what is funny - and to whom? The production brings out all the wit, drama, and humanity from Shakespeare's text, but surveys the play from a modern point of view.
