Additional Information

In honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, the runners, spectators, heroic first responders and rescuers at the scene, and the city of Boston, the UCLA campus and surrounding community will come together on Tuesday, April 23 to show our support for those affected by the tragic events in Boston.

Upon hearing about the bombings at the Boston Marathon, there were many reports of runners who finished the marathon and ran straight to the hospital to donate blood to victims.

In symbolic fashion, and to commemorate the victims of the bombings, we will be writing letters to victims, their families, and first responders, and leading a short route through campus ending near the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center for a blood drive.

Please join us in honoring Krystle Campbell of Medford, Massachusetts, 8-year-old Richard Martin of Boston, Massachusetts, and Lu Lingzi of Shenyang, China, and the 176 who were injured by the explosions.

  • 11 am - Letter writing for victims, their families, and thank yous to first responders
  • 12 pm - Symbolic Marathon starting in Bruin Plaza
