'Kick-In' (1931), directed by Richard Wallace. Bow plays Molly, the strong-willed wife of an ex-con (Toomey) struggling to go straight. When her husband becomes unwittingly mired in a jewel heist gone wrong, Molly plunges into the underworld to save him and their marriage. A gritty, full-throttle crime drama, Kick-In was Bow’s first film after the trial of her former personal assistant Daisy DeVoe on charges of blackmail and embezzlement.
Followed by 'Her Wedding Night' (1930), directed by Frank Tuttle. A comedy farce set in the south of France, Her Wedding Night finds Clara Bow playing a familiar role as a popular American film actress, Norma Martin. Sharing a train with composer Larry Charters (Forbes), Norma is entangled in a complicated situation when, due to language barriers and mistaken identities, Larry’s attempt to escape his throng of admirers inadvertently leads to their marriage.
