The Odyssey of Pu Yi, from Emperor of China at age three to puppet ruler of Manchukuo during the Japanese occupation to humble gardener in a hungry country convulsed by the Cultural Revolution is the centerpiece of this epic saga covering 70 years of China’s turbulent 20th century.

The film won an incredible nine Oscars, including Best Picture, Direction and Cinematography.
