Additional Information

Matsuri in Bruin Plaza is an event put on by the Nikkei Student Union to involve the UCLA community in a showcase of Japanese American culture.

Based on traditional Japanese festivals, the event will consist of different booths, including such things as calligraphy, origami making, games, and small history lessons, that all serve to teach the culture. Another of the main features is performances by NSU Modern, Kyodo Taiko, and NSU Odori that will be on the Bruin Plaza stage.

NSU Odori, the traditional Japanese dance group, will also be selling foods typical of a Japanese festival.

As a cultural organization, we put on this event in the hopes of teaching more about our culture in a fun yet educational setting.
