Additional Information
On July 14th, UCLA will be working together with Assemblymember Holly Mitchell on her annual Christmas in July event at Kenneth Hahn Park. This event focuses on the needs of low-income parents and children between the ages of 7-15.
Each year, Assemblymember Mitchell reaches out to schools in the 47th district to invite them to a day of fun in the sun. Different zones and events will be set up for children to enjoy, including a health zone with screenings, reading corner, and environmental area. E-readers will be handed out to lucky families nominated by their schools.
Last year, Ron Artest volunteered to be the Summer Santa, and planning is underway for a bigger and better Christmas in July this year! Volunteers will assist with running the different zone activities for kids, registration and welcome, and other needed tasks throughout the day.
Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes, their UCLA volunteer t-shirt which will be provided, and appropriate clothing for a day of running around and playing with children.
Food will be provided at the event for all volunteers and families in attendance.
