Additional Information
wild Up Concert: WEST wild Up, the Hammer’s first orchestra-in-residence, is an L.A.-based 24-member experimental ensemble that mixes classical works, new compositions, and indie music, seeking to reconceptualize the role of an orchestra in its community.
Their insightful programming changes the experience of the classical concert, while vibrant performances and interactive installations around the museum demonstrate their philosophy of “radical-inclusionism”—audience members are invited to experience the performances as they see fit and no music is off limits.
From July to December, stop by to find out what’s possible when an orchestra takes on a museum. wild Up launches its residency with WEST, the first of three large-scale concerts. WEST explores the west coast’s vast sonic landscape through classical music, jazz, noise, indie-rock, and the avant garde.
All Hammer public programs are free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Hammer members receive priority seating, subject to availability. Reservations not accepted, RSVPs not required.
Parking is available under the museum for $3 for 3 hours.
