Can Old Government Catch Up to the New Economy?

Today, the United States finds itself in a precarious economic place, mired in decline and surpassed by other nations. Michael Lind, author of Land of Promise: An Economic History of the United States, argues that the biggest problem is one we’ve faced before—a mismatch between new industries and old political institutions. To solve it will require political renewal. But are we up to the task? Lind visits Zócalo to discuss how—or if—the United States can regain its eminence.

Zócalo at the Hammer. This vibrant series of programs features thinkers and doers speaking on some of the most pressing topics of the day. For more information, please visit zocalopublicsquare.org.

All Hammer public programs are free. Hammer members receive priority seating, subject to availability.

Reservations not accepted, RSVPs not required.

Parking is available under the museum for $3 after 6:00pm.
