Additional Information

The Universal Film Manufacturing Company incorporated on April 30, 1912 and would go on to become the oldest continuously operating film producer and distributor in the United States. Throughout its history, Universal has translated economic necessity into a uniquely American challenge to the distinctions between prestigious and popular entertainment. The Archive is pleased to celebrate Universal Pictures’ hundred-year legacy.

'Somewhere in Time' (1980): 'Somewhere in Time' was released to withering reviews and tepid box office but has since become one of Hollywood’s most beloved romances with a devoted international fan base. A tale of time travel and long lost love, it opens in 1972 as playwright Richard Collier (Reeves) begins an all-consuming quest to return through the years to 1912 when his soul mate, a popular stage actress (Seymour), awaits.
