Additional Information

Music and Dance of West Africa Ensemble Francis Awe and Omawale Orishayomi, co-directors The Music of West Africa Ensemble performs the music and dances of the Yoruba people of Nigeria. The ensemble produces complex polyphonic textures on a variety of drums, bells and rattles to accompany dramatic and entertaining social dances.

Persian Music Ensemble Amir Pourjavady, director The Persian Music Ensemble focuses on the performance of Persian classical music including the radif and tasnifs (vocal repertoire).

This program is made possible in part by the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Fund for Iranian Music established by Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute, and the generosity of the Farhang Foundation.
