"Want to know what jazz is really about,” asked the Detroit Free Press. “Listen to Billy Hart.”

Voted the #1 Jazz Drummer in the 2015 Modern Drummer Reader's Poll, when Hart takes the stage for a solo concert in Jan Popper Theater, the seasoned jazz veteran will draw upon his decades of experience performing with the likes of Otis Redding, Shirley Horn, the Montgomery Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stan Getz and Miles Davis.

An active performer and teacher, the 76-year-old jazz drummer is the leader of the Billy Hart Quartet with Mark Turner, Ethan Iverson, and Ben Street.
