Additional Information

"...one of the major guitar ensembles in the world” -- Soundboard Magazine

"The MGQ's playing is faultless. They are expressive, with a large dynamic and timbral range, perfect ensemble, and an inventive approach." -- American Record Guide

“More than a guitar quartet, more than superb musicians, and more than a great chamber group. They are ambassadors of sound, style, and substance.” -- Daniel Bernard Romain, composer/performer

The Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, one of the few guitar ensembles performing works committed to memory, joins the UCLA Choral Studies program for an evening of music exploring the passion of love and duty.

Playing works on texts from the Civil War and other significant events in American history, the guest performers will be joined by a choir, with the music featuring voices as well as classical guitar.

This concert was made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. The school is proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2017-18 Dobrow Series.
