Kimberly Chantal Welch, a doctoral candidate in the Theater and Performance Studies Program at UCLA, will discuss “Revisiting Nkombo: Performance, Gal-boy Prisoners, and the Politics of Black Femininity.”
Her research explores the intersections of performance, homelessness, and incarceration with an emphasis on spatial structures and their relationship to constructions of race, gender and sexuality. She focuses on historic and contemporary forms of spatial dispossession in Los Angeles and New Orleans.
